Resident Spotlight: David & Sia

For the last few months, two of our residents David and Sia have been volunteering for two days per week with Helping Hands Mission in Airport West. Helping Hands Mission provide emergency support for individuals and families across Victoria who are experiencing hardship. They operate a number of opportunity shop’s with funds raised from their stores going towards providing material aid and food relief to vulnerable members of our community.

David and Sia support the mission by assisting with odd jobs and sorting through donations in their busy Airport West Warehouse. Each week, David and Sia look forward to their time spent at the mission and have quickly become valued members of their team. Not only do David and Sia dedicate their time to giving back to our local community, they’re also an integral part of our community as well. Sia can often be found helping out Marie and the team in our busy kitchen, helping prepare meals and washing dishes, or assisting Jenny and our Diversional Therapy team with activities such as bingo or arts and crafts.
David is also always ready to lend a hand, assisting with activities and on day trips and special outings. David and Sia are also often joined by their fury canine friends – Mandy and Jasmin who are beautifully cared for and have found wonderful companions in their owners. These fun loving pooches are also extremely popular among our residents and bring many a smile, and much joy to our community. Residents enjoy joining David and Sia when they take Mandy and Jasmin on walks around our grounds, or to the local shops.
Along with many of our residents, both David and Sia are a wonderful example of daily life at Corpus Christi Community, Greenvale. All of our residents are encouraged to get involved as much as they can. Whether it be collecting the daily newspaper or just simply lending an ear. We all have an important role to play in encouraging, supporting and assisting one another.
